Making Music at Beading

Thursday is beading day. Nancy and Nita made necklaces, I put together five sets of earrings, and the other Linda worked on her charity quilt. Two of us were on the road. Nita's necklace looked good on me and my birthday is coming up! She found these beads in Belmont; strung them on a strong but flexible wire; put little stones between the big ones; added clasps, stringing the wire through crimpers, the clasp circle and back through the crimper to hide the end of the wire in the bead. After testing, she will crimp (squeeze the little crimper "beads" with the proper tool) and cut off the beading wire to a length to hide it in a bead at both ends of the necklace. I saw something similar but not so pretty or perfect for moi as this in Tiffany's window.

At each of our plates, Nita, placed her fifth grade granddaughter's new CD. How neat that Emma can write songs and sing so thoughtfully at her age. Emma rocks!
Of course, I may have to make a bird like this out of heavy clay. Just love robin redbreasts toting campanula! And there were baby birds in a house outside of Nita's front door, sweet mouths wide open.

  1. Lovely, lovely necklace. Hope it's yours for your birthday! The talented granddaughter. Wow! We look forward to seeing your robin. What about the delicate blue....balloon flowers?

  2. That necklace is gorgeous! And I am blown away that a 5th grader has made a CD. The robin with the flower in the little holder is lovely too! The flower looks a lot like what we used floating in "balloon" vases at the church party. I think those flowers were from an althea bush--they were dark and ligh pink and white, no blue, but the shape of the flower was the same!

  3. Linda! Those earrings are outstanding! My friend Thelma when she's at Chatauqua every summer takes a jewelry-making class. She made me some lovely earrings last summer, quite similar to these!

  4. I especially like the 'starfish' earrings with red, also like the red and green globes. Starfish are my faves, though. Keep working!

  5. The necklace is beautiful & will be a perfect b'day treat for you. These earrings, as well as the others you've recently made, are gorgeous. Love the colors and patterns. Got to go check out the local bead place tomorrow. You've inspired me. Hmmm. What did I do in the 5th grade? Compose and sing? No way. Most impressive! Emma truly does rock!

  6. Can I buy that CD or was it privately produced? If I can buy it, would love to as a gift to Lia! I don't know that Lia has an "outstanding" singing voice, but she does sing nicely and has a great speaking voice. Anyway, it might inspire her!

  7. LOVELY --- I wish I had some of these beaded wonders to wear ! I am wearing my red/blue beaded bracelet this weekend, though, and I love my summery, splashy pastel beaded bracelet you made too.
