Before the next May 14th meeting, I am to do any of the following: Add one final border or enhance any of the previous borders (embellishments, beading, applique). I am not to change what has been done, but enhance it. I may quilt it if ambitious. A sleeve should be attached to the back with the quilt to be brought to the May meeting for the final unveiling to the membership.
I know the quilt seems quite bright to you, but it works in the room with the oak furniture. I really don't need sunglasses when it is in the proper setting. Maybe I will add blue touches and hide the miniature hearts that are not visible here. That fabric is also a lighter weight than the others. I had suggested the values be dark since I like limited values (no "holes"), so I will probably knock down the lights. It covers the big table. You can't tell, but I learned a lot! :*) The photo is just a casual one, taken in the basement.
I can see how much work went into this.
ReplyDeleteI think it's pretty - the colors all work so well together. It's great that you have the perfect spot to display/use it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see this creation grow more and more lovely. It'll certainly be great to have about on rainy days. (Or snowy ones.)
ReplyDeleteLinda, I am so very happy to see this excellent photo of the quilt. However you figured out how to photograph it, it worked so very well! I do agree with you that the light setting triangles, with the "too sweet" fabric, just don't fit in well with the rest of the quilt, and I think one of your ideas--to applique other triangles atop them, not hiding them but concealing or toning them down!--would be an excellent way to go. YOU would be happier with it, for sure. I know the furniture and the room where you plan to use it, and I can well picture it there! Once you do a bit to rectify what you don't much like, this quilt will be truly a joy to you, lifting your heart each time you see it. Congratulations! What a fun, exciting, project!
ReplyDeleteI like the outer row..that looks like a lot of work. I don't like the pinwheels with rectangles next to them. I think the hearts are fine..makes a nice break from green and orange. It is huge. RR
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt. It has wonderful motion. You might want to enhance that with quilting or beading. ES
ReplyDeleteAt first glance in another email spot, I didn't much like it as a casual observer, BUT NOW I REALLY LIKE IT. I now appreciate all the work that went into it and even like the bright colors and the contrasts. Congrats on a really nice finish! ss
