Decorating the ears: a quick craft

Joe got me a new jacket for Mother's Day and I needed some earrings to tie it in with my motley outfit...to take in both the cool rainy days and hints of warm spring. The jacket is pink and I was going retro with black blouse and crops. I stopped at two bead stores to pick up some "stones" and I had some silver wire headpins at home to twist into shape to attach to earring findings. Some day I must get up the nerve to pierce my ears so there won't be so much hardware involved.
There are many videos on how to make earrings. If this link goes dead, just Google How to make earrings. I get a bit goofy sometimes adding fish, teacups and turkeys (Thanksgiving). But it is fun to have an endless supply. Today's effort is the pair top row second from the right. The beads around the colored malachite of red and black, are black and pink but didn't photograph well. The other earrings are recent efforts. Click to see better.

  1. Ohhh, lovely and so much fun to examine each set. These are tiny works of art! But, yes, go get those ears pierced! You'll love having pierced ears--so much more comfortable. I keep thinking someday I'll get into jewelry making, but I've just passed up a workshop in learning such. Expensive and besides, I need to spend my time quilting! But your work is so lovely, and I've noticed that many quilters are also into making jewelry.

  2. I loved the poppy earrings. But the others were lovely, too. Now can we have a photo of you in your new outfit including earrings?

  3. Run, don't walk to get your ears pierced. A number of years ago two friends gave me earrings AND the piercing for my birthday. They took me to the jewelry store right after our birthday luncheon together and one stood in front of the door until I got it done. I have been so grateful to them ever since! I love the options that I have for earrings and the lack of pain from clamps that are too tight. Your earrings are lovely and such fun to see.

  4. Wonderful earrings ! I just BOUGHT two pairs from my jewelry-making friend Lynn Snider. One pair has a tiny long pearl and a green pearlized gem with it; the other pair has a round, dark, pink bead and a larger, round brighter pink . Pink and green are my current favorite colors. I love the earrings you've shown us.
